Moana Island Reading Group - The Ant and the Grasshopper

This week our group read 'The Ant and The Grasshopper'.  We were learning how to justify our opinion using evidence from the text.

One of our follow ups was to imagine that we were the grasshopper and we had met a new insect who was behaving in the same way as the grasshopper at the beginning of the text.  What advice would we give them based on what we now knew?

Here are some of our stories that we came up with:

  1. Nice work! I loved how you used what you know from the grasshopper's experience to warn the other insects. It's always good to be prepared.

  2. Kia ora Learning Hub Whenua,
My name is Tania and I am the Manaiakalani Outreach Facilitator who organises Tuhi Mai Tuhi Atu. It's great to have you join us this term. I look forward to following the learning on your hub blog as well as seeing the comments that are left for you from your blogging buddies. Thank you for sharing your stories - imagining you were the grasshopper and meeting another insect. I like how you have all given the insect you met good advice about getting prepared for winter. You have obviously read your story well and know that you are giving the insect a good opinion based on the facts that you have learnt. Keep up the great sharing on your hub blog.
    Ngā mihi nui
